The Shell Ocean Discovery XPRIZE is a global competition that challenged teams to advance deep-sea technologies for autonomous, high-resolution ocean exploration. The main prize is based on autonomous mapping of the sea floor and there is also a NOAA bonus prize that incentivizes the development of sensors to autonomously sense and track chemical or biological signals back to their source.
