Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (IFSAR) Alaska Data Dictionary

 

Agency

• Field Definition:  IFSAR Alaska data products are administered by the U.S.Geological Survey (USGS).

 

Beginning Date

• Field Definition:  The first day of data acquisition as provided by the vendor. The beginning and ending date are used to indicate the date range for data acquisition

          Format:

          YYYY/MM/DD

          YYYY = Year

          MM = Month

          DD = Day

 

Coordinates Decimal Degrees

• Field Definition:  The latitude and longitude are provided in decimal degrees for the following fields:

           Values:

           Scene Center Latitude and Longitude

          Northeast (NE) Corner Latitude and Longitude

          Northwest (NW) Corner Latitude and Longitude

          Southeast (SE) Corner Latitude and Longitude

          Southwest (SW) Corner Latitude and Longitude

 

          Latitude Format Decimal Degrees: -90.000 through 90.000

          Longitude Format Decimal Degrees: -180.000 through 180.000

 

          Number of decimal places will vary by dataset – check collection in EE.

 

Coordinates Degrees, Minutes, Seconds

• Field Definition:  The latitude and longitude are provided in degrees, minutes, and seconds for the following fields:
  
  Scene Center Latitude and Longitude
  Northeast (NE) Corner Latitude and Longitude
  Northwest (NW) Corner Latitude and Longitude
  Southeast (SE) Corner Latitude and Longitude
  Southwest (SW) Corner Latitude and Longitude
  
  Longitude Format:
  DDDMMSS.SSH
  DDD = Degree(s) with a range of 0 through 180
  MM = Minute(s) with a range of 0 through 59
  SS.SS = Second(s) with a range of 0 through 59.99
  H = Hemisphere with E for east and W for west
  
  Latitude Format:
  DDMMSS.SSH
  DD = Degree(s) with a range of 0 through 90
  MM = Minutes(s) with a range of 0 through 59
  SS.SS = Second(s) with a range of 0 through 59.99
  H = Hemisphere with N for north and S for south

 

Datum

• Field Definition:  The horizontal reference system associated with the data.

 

DSM Vendor ID

• Field Definition:  The original file name provided by the vendor.

 

DTM Vendor ID

• Field Definition:  The original file name provided by the vendor.

 

Ending Date

• Field Definition:  The last day of data acquisition as provided by the vendor. The beginning and ending date are used to indicate the date range for data acquisition.

           Format:

           YYYY/MM/DD

           YYYY = Year

           MM = Month

           DD = Day

 

Entity ID

• Field Definition:  This field describes the naming convention of each file.

          Format:

          DDDDDDDYYYYNXXXXWZZZZ_VV

          DDDDDDD = Dataset designator

          YYYY = Year

          N = Northern hemisphere

          XXXX = Lower left corner latitude

          W = Western hemisphere

          ZZZZZ = Lower left corner longitude

          VV = Version number

File Format

• Field Definition:  Products are available in Georeferenced Tagged Image File Format (GeoTIFF).

 

Map Projection

• Field Definition:  The reference system used to represent the location of the data on the surface of the earth.

 

ORI Vendor ID

• Field Definition:  The original file name provided by the vendor.

 

Product Type

• Field Definition:  The type of product derived from interferometric synthetic aperture radar (IFSAR) data.

          Values:

          DTM = Digital Terrain Model (Available through the IFSAR Alaska data set)

          DSM = Digital Surface Model (Available through the IFSAR Alaska data set)

          ORI = Orthorectified Radar Intensity image (Available through the IFSAR ORI Alaska data set)

 

Resolution

• Field Definition:  For DSM & DTM resolution refers to the distance between elevation data points. The resolution for ORI is defined as the size of the smallest discernable feature that can be detected.

 

Resolution Units

• Field Definition:  The unit of measure associated with the resolution.

 

Vendor

• Field Definition:  The name of the company that acquired the interferometric synthetic aperture radar (IFSAR) and processed the data.

 

Vertical Datum

• Field Definition:  The vertical reference system associated with the data.
