Users, Uses, and Value of Landsat Imagery Active
Landsat
The longest continuous record of the Earth's surface
Since 1972, Landsat satellites have been orbiting the Earth and capturing snapshots of our planet’s ever-changing surface.
The USGS and NASA work together to manage this ongoing series of Earth-observing satellite missions and to make the global imagery available to the public. The imagery is applied in a variety of applications and brings value to many aspects of society.
FORT conducts research to better understand the value of the imagery by addressing the following research questions:
- Who uses Landsat imagery?
- What is the imagery used for?
- What qualitative and quantitative value does the imagery hold?
Learn more about the research surveys or read the case studies that expand upon them.
