Visitor Parking, Building Entry, and Public Transportation
Visitors may park in any of the Visitor, General, or Commuter lots on the School of Mines campus and pay at the nearby kiosk.
Do not park on the street! Most street parking is by City of Golden permit only.
If you receive a parking ticket for parking without paying at the kiosk, or for any other violation of campus policies, you must pay it or appeal it at the Public Safety office, personally, within 15 days of the citation. Parking policies are enforced daily, including holidays and semester breaks.
Building Entry & Security
The Geologic Hazards Science Center is a locked building with security guards. To gain entry, you will call your host using the phone just outside the entry doors. There is a directory with the code to dial inside the phone box. Your host will answer the call, greet you, and then meet you and let you in.
Visitors with Department of Interior ID's will need to show their ID to the security officer upon entry. Non-DOI visitors will need to show an official ID and go through the security check. This involves signing in, putting all your personal items on the scanning belt, and walking through the scanner, just like airport security.
Public Transportation
If you're arriving at Denver International Airport, you can take the A line at the south end of the main terminal to the end of the line at Union Station in downtown Denver. Then switch to the W line and take it to the end at the Jefferson County Government building in Golden. From here, you can take the FlexRide shuttle to the Mines campus, where it stops about one block from the GHSC.
