Statistics and information on the mining industry in Comoros.

Overview

In 2024, Comoros was not a globally significant producer of mineral commodities. Production of mineral commodities represented only a minor part of the economy of Comoros. Comoros produced only small quantities of common building materials—such as clay, crushed stone, gravel, and sand—for domestic consumption. The legislative framework for the mineral sector in Comoros is provided by the Mineral Substances Regime, Decree-law No. 54/1110 of 1954. The Ministry of Energy, Water, and Hydrocarbons oversees the mineral sector and is responsible for regulating and developing the energy sector. Nearly all of Comoros’ nonfuel mineral and crude petroleum needs were met through imports.
