USGS scientists showcase coral disease research capabilities to Florida Disease Advisory Committee
USGS scientists from multiple centers will give 5-minute lightening presentations followed by question and answer sessions during a regularly scheduled Florida Disease Advisory Committee (DAC) call on July 1, 2020.
These presentations highlight USGS work and capabilities to investigate causative agents of Stony Coral Tissue Loss Disease (SCTLD), histopathology, transmission electron microscopy, predictive modeling, and decision support. Speakers include W. Bane Schill (LSC), Christina Kellogg (SPCMSC), Aine Hawthrone (NWHC), Thierry Work (NWHC), Kevin Lafferty (WERC), and Katrina Alger (NWHC).
Since 2015, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and numerous Federal, academic, and NGO partners have been collaborating on a multifaceted response effort to SCTLD. The biweekly DAC calls are part of the coordination of this large response effort.
