Native ranges of freshwater fishes of North America Native ranges of freshwater fishes of North America
Background: The Nonindigenous Aquatic Species (NAS) Database functions as a repository and clearinghouse for the occurrence of nonindigenous aquatic species information from across the United States. The Database contains locality information on more than 1,300 species introduced as early as 1800, including freshwater vertebrates and invertebrates, aquatic plants, and marine fishes. Taxa...
Simulated Methane and Nitrous Oxide Emissions under Drought-induced Saltwater Intrusion in Tidal Freshwater Forested Wetlands Simulated Methane and Nitrous Oxide Emissions under Drought-induced Saltwater Intrusion in Tidal Freshwater Forested Wetlands
This dataset contains the result of simulated daily emissions of methane (CH4) and nitrous oxide (N2O) from the soils in Tidal Freshwater Forested Wetlands (TFFW) along the Waccamaw River (SC, USA) and the Savannah River (GA and SC, USA) under drought-induced saltwater intrusion using a process-driven biogeochemistry model.
Mississippi Barrier Islands imagery (Cat, East and West Ship, Horn and Petit Bois) acquired February 2020 Mississippi Barrier Islands imagery (Cat, East and West Ship, Horn and Petit Bois) acquired February 2020
To document current Mississippi barrier island conditions, imagery was acquired February 28, 2020 using Airborne GPs and field control ground markers. For ground control, markers were established and surveyed in using Real Time Kinematic (RTK) survey equipment. The imagery collected will be processed to produce a mosaic of all 4 islands (Cat, East and West Ship, Horn and Petit Bois) and
Digital Elevation Model (DEM) at 50 m resolution for the Everglades Depth Estimation Network (EDEN) Digital Elevation Model (DEM) at 50 m resolution for the Everglades Depth Estimation Network (EDEN)
Since its inception, the Everglades Depth Estimation Network (EDEN) has used the High Accuracy Elevation Dataset (HAED) digital elevation model (DEM) to provide scientists and managers with continuous water depth surfaces, derived from interpolated water stage, on a 400 X 400 meter grid. A new, high resolution LiDAR-based DEM is available through a collaboration between Everglades...
Southwest Everglades coastal soil pore water data Everglades National Park 1997-2012 Southwest Everglades coastal soil pore water data Everglades National Park 1997-2012
Soil porewater (30cm and 60cm depth) was sampled for specific conductance, salinity and temperature in the southwest coastal Everglades, Everglades National Park from 1997-2012 at four sampling locations. Principal sampling location (HR) was located adjacent the Harney River and had five sampling sites (~ 60m apart) along a 300m N-S transect in a coastal mangrove fringe forest sampled...
Vegetation Types in Coastal Louisiana in 2021 (ver. 2.0, April 2023) Vegetation Types in Coastal Louisiana in 2021 (ver. 2.0, April 2023)
Coastwide vegetation surveys have been conducted multiple times over the past 50 years (e.g. Chabreck and Linscombe 1968, 1978, 1988, 1997, 2001, and 2013) by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) in support of coastal management activities. The last survey was conducted in 2013 and was funded by the Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA) and...
Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) genomic data of moose (Alces alces) from the contiguous United States, 2009-2017 Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) genomic data of moose (Alces alces) from the contiguous United States, 2009-2017
We analyzed the single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) present in the genomes of moose representing 3 subspecies in the contiguous United States. Blood samples were collected opportunistically from collaborators during field efforts or were supplied to our lab from collaborators' archives, and represented moose sampling occurring between 2009-2017. DNA was extracted, sequenced using next
Droplet digital PCR data for environmental DNA surveys of Burmese pythons in the Greater Everglades Ecosystem Droplet digital PCR data for environmental DNA surveys of Burmese pythons in the Greater Everglades Ecosystem
Environmental DNA water samples were collected in the Greater Everglades Ecosystem between May 20-22, 2019 and analyzed to estimate Burmese python (Python bivittatus) occurrence. Twenty-eight sites were sampled in the Greater Everglades Ecosystem, with 5 field replicate samples per site, for a total of 140 water samples collected. Python eDNA was detected at 25 of the 28 sampling sites...
Data release for Predicting the impacts of future sea level rise on specialist snake species in the imperiled pine rockland ecosystem of South Florida Data release for Predicting the impacts of future sea level rise on specialist snake species in the imperiled pine rockland ecosystem of South Florida
Approximately 90% of pine rockland habitat in South Florida and the Florida Keys, USA, has been lost, fragmented, and degraded due to urbanization and other anthropogenic disturbances. Low-lying islands and coastal areas are also becoming increasingly vulnerable to sea-level rise and high tide flooding, which is rapidly increasing in frequency, depth, and extent, putting these areas and...
Regeneration trends along climate gradients in Taxodium distichum forest of the southeastern United States, 2007-2019 Regeneration trends along climate gradients in Taxodium distichum forest of the southeastern United States, 2007-2019
Data provided are the volumes of cypress cones, collected in the North American Baldcypress Swamp Network along the Mississippi River Alluvial Valley (southern Illinois to southern Louisiana, and Gulf of Mexico, east Texas to west Florida Panhandle, 2007 - 2019.
Developing bare-earth digital elevation models from structure-from-motion data on barrier islands, Dauphin Island, AL, 2018-2019 Developing bare-earth digital elevation models from structure-from-motion data on barrier islands, Dauphin Island, AL, 2018-2019
This U.S. Geological Survey data release includes bare-earth digital elevation models (DEMs) that were produced by removing elevation bias in vegetated areas from structure-from-motion (SfM) data products for two sites on Dauphin Island, Alabama. These data were collected in the late fall of 2018 and spring of 2019. In addition to the bare-earth DEMs, this data release also includes...
Barrier island vegetation and elevation survey, Dauphin Island, AL, 2018-19 Barrier island vegetation and elevation survey, Dauphin Island, AL, 2018-19
Vegetation and elevation survey data were collected in 4-square-meter quadrats via Real-Time Kinematic GPS from September 9, 2018 to April 17, 2019 on Dauphin Island, AL. Vegetation data included total percent herbaceous cover, percent cover by plant species, and mean height of vegetation within the quadrat. The percent cover by species was used to determine the dominant species for the...
