Predicting landscape effects of Mississippi River diversions on soil organic carbon sequestration Predicting landscape effects of Mississippi River diversions on soil organic carbon sequestration

It contains supporting data from the wetland morphology modeling to support the analysis on the landscape effects of Mississippi River diversions in the context of sea-level rise on soil organic carbon (SOC) sequestration along coastal Louisiana wetlands.

Bd and Bsal prevalence in Gulf Coast waterdogs captured from St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana, in 2015 Bd and Bsal prevalence in Gulf Coast waterdogs captured from St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana, in 2015

The dataset includes information on all 76 Gulf Coast Waterdogs captured including sex and size information along with the results of the tests for the two fungal pathogens.

Data for the estimation of growth dynamics for Pomacea maculata from hatchling to adult, 10/10/13 to 9/25/15 Data for the estimation of growth dynamics for Pomacea maculata from hatchling to adult, 10/10/13 to 9/25/15

Snail weights and lengths for an apple snail growth study. Large snails were individually weighed to the 100th of a gram and measured to 10th of a mm. Smaller snails were weighed in groups of variable number and then the average weight of the snails in the group recorded. Age of the snails is from hatching data.

Analysis of the effect of Hurricane Sandy on New Jersey Atlantic coastal marshes based on landsat thematic mapper and operational land imager data: 2000-2015 Analysis of the effect of Hurricane Sandy on New Jersey Atlantic coastal marshes based on landsat thematic mapper and operational land imager data: 2000-2015

This USGS Data Release represents geospatial data sets that were created for the analysis of the effect of Hurricane Sandy on New Jersey Atlantic Coastal Marshes. The following listed image products were generated: 1) Fifteen marsh surface condition index (MSCI) data sets were calculated from yearly summer collections of ETM+ image data from 2000 to 2015. Three classes described the...

Herpetofaunal inventories of the national parks of South Florida and the Caribbean: Volume I, Everglades National Park Herpetofaunal inventories of the national parks of South Florida and the Caribbean: Volume I, Everglades National Park

The Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP) requires the use of ecological indicators to measure the success of restoration efforts. The Everglades amphibian community is ideal because amphibians are present in all habitats and under all hydrologic regimes. During Everglades restoration, hydrologic patterns will change and the response of ecological indicators will determine...

Expert opinions of demographic rates of Argentine black and white tegus in South Florida Expert opinions of demographic rates of Argentine black and white tegus in South Florida

We illustrate the utility of expert elicitation, explicit recognition of uncertainty, and the value of information for directing management and research efforts for invasive species, using tegu lizards (Salvator merianae) in southern Florida as a case study. We posited a post-birth pulse, matrix model, which was parameterized using a 3-point process to elicit estimates of tegu...

Food-web dynamics and isotopic niches in deep-sea communities residing in a submarine canyon and on the adjacent open slopes Food-web dynamics and isotopic niches in deep-sea communities residing in a submarine canyon and on the adjacent open slopes

Examination of food webs and trophic niches provide insight into organisms functional ecology, yet few studies have examined the trophodynamics within submarine canyons, where the interaction of morphology and oceanography influences food deposition. Stable isotope analysis and Bayesian ellipses documented deep-sea food web structure and trophic niches in Baltimore Canyon and the...

Plant biomass, carbon content, decomposition, and soil greenhouse gas fluxes to support carbon budget development for a created salt marsh in eastern North Carolina, USA Plant biomass, carbon content, decomposition, and soil greenhouse gas fluxes to support carbon budget development for a created salt marsh in eastern North Carolina, USA

These data were collected from a small (14 ha), created salt marsh in Carteret County, North Carolina (34.82 deg. N; 76.61 deg. W). This site was created in 2007 following an engineering plan developed by Dr. Michael Burchell (NC-State University). This data collection was to support the development of a site-specific carbon budget. Data were collected from 2011 to 2013, or approximately...

Data for comparison of climate envelope models developed using expert-selected variables versus statistical selection Data for comparison of climate envelope models developed using expert-selected variables versus statistical selection

Climate envelope models are increasingly used to characterize potential future distribution of species under climate change scenarios. It is acknowledged that the use of climate envelope models comes with both strengths and limitations, and that results are sensitive to modeling assumptions, inputs, and specific methods. The selection of predictor variables, an integral modeling step, is...
