The Guidelines define Campground as follows:
A developed, designated site for camping in tents and/or recreational vehicles.
INDICATORS: Accessible by vehicle (no primitive campsites).
INCLUDES: Named sites open to the public, within state, county, local parks, and recreation sites.
DOES NOT INCLUDE: Long term RV-only parks, primitive campsites, such as those only accessible by hiking into area, individual campsites, campgrounds located on federal lands managed by U.S. Fish and Wildlife, National Park Service, National Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management.
What is a Campground?
A campground is a developed designated site for camping in tents and/or recreational vehicles.
Where can I find authoritative lists of Campgrounds?
Campground information can sometimes be found on municipal, county and state official sites and tourism sites. Personal knowledge is also acceptable but be sure to document the source in the comments field (e.g. “I am a trail builder with the Ozark Trail Association”).

Where do I place a campground structure point?
Place the structure point in the center of the campground or if the campground has a fee or entrance station that would be acceptable as well. To avoid a clustering of points be sure to place one point per campground. For campgrounds that are separated by a large area of land or a main road it is acceptable to add an additional point to capture the entire campground.
What address should be given for campgrounds?
If the authoritative site for a campground does have an address for the campground use that address. Some campgrounds may not have a complete physical address, in which case it is acceptable to just include a road name.
How do I name a Campground?
Try to find the official name of the campground from an authoritative source (campground, park, or recreation area website). Campground names can vary greatly but should include the word "Campground" as we are specifically collecting campgrounds, not individual campsites, parks, or recreation areas. Campground names generally have the format: <park or recreation area name> <Campground>, for example: Golden Gate Canyon State Park Campground.
However, some parks or recreation areas have multiple campgrounds that with unique names or designators. If so, try to identify those unique names or designators such as “Loop A”, “Loop B”, etc. For example: Sprague Brook County Park Campground Loop A. As long as the name matches the one listed by an authoritative source, includes the word “Campground”, and accurately represents the structure being collected, it is acceptable. Remember to use one word: “Campground”. “Camp Ground” spelled with two words is not acceptable formatting.
