Congratulations! With 200 points you are now a member of the Circle of the Surveyor’s Compass. Your compass is a simple yet beautiful instrument. When not out in the field measuring angles, display your compass proudly. You are a serious database contributor and now comes the real challenge… a quantum leap from 200 to 500 points to get to the next level.
The compass was the instrument used from the early 1700s until the late 1800s to survey our public lands. The compass determines the direction of the line being surveyed. Its magnetic needle points to magnetic north. Transits and theodolites replaced the venerable surveyor’s compass.
