Gaspard-Félix Tournachon (Nadar) was a French photographer who is credited with taking the first aerial photograph. Nadar took photographs of Paris from the gondola of a balloon in 1858 but was better know as a photographer of artists, poets, composers, and other celebrities of the time; among his subjects was Louis Daguerre, inventor of the daguerreotype process of photography.
Nadar also experimented with taking photographs using artificial light in the catacombs of Paris.
