Acute and chronic toxicity of uranium mine water on the mayfly (Neocloeon triangulifer) before and after zero-valent iron treatment
Acute (96-h) and chronic (14-d) toxicity of uranium pond water, before and after zero-valent iron treatment, was evaluated using the mayfly Neocloeon triangulifer. Water chemistry data characterizing the laboratory-synthesized waters used in the experiment include specific conductance, pH, alkalinity, major-ion, and metal concentrations. Water quality data collected from the test waters used in the mayfly exposures include conductivity, pH, alkalinity, hardness, dissolved oxygen, and total ammonia. Toxicity data show the number of mayflies stocked and alive in each chamber following acute and chronic exposure. For the chronic tests, individual mayfly lengths and weights were measured at the end of the experiments to evaluate changes in growth.
