Datasets used to map the potentiometric surface and depth to water, spring 2022, Mississippi River Valley alluvial aquifer

September 16, 2025

Potentiometric-surface and depth-to-water maps for spring 2022 were created for the Mississippi River Valley alluvial aquifer (MRVA) using most of the available groundwater-altitude data from wells and surface-water-altitude data from streamgages. The potentiometric surface was referenced to the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD 88), This data release contains (1) the location and water-level altitude, in feet, for the wells and streamgages considered for these maps, (2) interpreted contours, in feet, and raster of the potentiometric surface, in feet and in meters, and (3) a depth-to-water raster, in feet. The methods used to generate these maps are described in the associated report titled "Altitude of the potentiometric surface and depth to water in the Mississippi River Valley alluvial aquifer, spring 2022," which is available at https://doi.org/10.3133/sim3532.
All data and metadata are available in the child items.
