Digital drillhole lithologic data and a radiocarbon age -- data supporting interpretation of Quaternary depositional history in the vicinity of Fort Morgan, Eastern Colorado
This data release contains digital location and downhole lithologic data for 3,564 drillholes from along a portion of the South Platte River in eastern Colorado. The drillholes are located within the east half of the Greeley and the west half of the Fort Morgan USGS 1:100,000 scale maps. Subsurface lithologic data is intended to extend the results of surficial geologic mapping to the subsurface to reconstruct the depositional history of the Quaternary sediments in the study area. Well locations are provided as point data in a geospatial shapefile; location and the lithologic data from downhole intervals in each borehole are tabulated in spreadsheet form. Also included is a single radiocarbon date from collagen taken from a bone sample in a core acquired by the USGS for this study. The spatial data are accompanied by a Data Dictionary that duplicates the Entity and Attribute information contained in the metadata file.
