Geochemistry, olivine chemistry, microXRF chemical maps, and isotope geochemistry of komatiitic volcanic rocks and U-Pb geochronology of metasedimentary rocks from the Bradley Peak and South Pass greenstone terranes, Wyoming Province
Bradley Peak and South Pass are two ca. 2.7 Ga greenstone terranes in the Archean Wyoming Province, USA that contain mafic-ultramafic metavolcanic rocks. This dataset contains five Comma Separated Value (CSV) files of tabular data, a data dictionary for tabular data (Data_Dictionary.csv), a shapefile with sample locations, and microXRF images. Wholerock_geochemistry.csv includes whole-rock major, minor, and trace element geochemistry as well as low-detection platinum-group element (PGE) geochemistry for mafic-ultramafic metavolcanic rocks from Bradley Peak and South Pass. SmNd.csv includes whole-rock samarium-neodymium isotope results for a subset of ultramafic komatiite-affinity metavolcanic rocks. Geochronology_zircon_data.csv includes detrital and igneous zircon U-Pb geochronology for metasedimentary and granitic rock units overlying and underlying the studied ultramafic metavolcanic rocks, and Geochronology_sample_summary.csv describes the samples analyzed for zircon U-Pb geochronology. Olivine_EMPA_data.csv contains olivine mineral chemistry for three olivine cumulate samples from komatiitic basalt volcanic flows from Bradley Peak. A shapefile of sample locations is also included. In addition to the tabular data outlined above, microXRF chemical maps of thin sections and rock slabs are presented for select samples that are representative of relict igneous spinifex and cumulate textures from komatiitic basalt volcanic flows from Bradley Peak. MicroXRF images included in this dataset contain relative elemental concentration data, not absolute quantitative concentration data. They were analyzed prior to the required development of method performance metrics. Therefore, these data were not verified against method quality control acceptance criteria as required by the Energy and Minerals Mission Area Quality Management System (EMMA QMS) and must be considered provisional (subject to revision). These data have not received final approval by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and are provided on the condition that neither the USGS or the U.S. Government shall be held liable for any damages resulting from the authorized or unauthorized use of the data.
