Grass Carp Movement and Removal Effort Data from the Sandusky River, Lake Erie, Ohio, USA from 2022 to 2023
Data include grass carp position and sampling data from 2022 to 2023. We used grass carp that were implanted with acoustic transmitters. The position data was generated in Fathom Position from receivers that composed several VEMCO Positioning Systems (VPS). We also queried the Great Lakes Acoustic Telemetry Observation Network (GLATOS) to obtain non-VPS position detections from receivers made from multiple projects. Sampling data was downloaded from the grass carp capture database hosted on ArcGIS Online. These data contain information such as location of event, time gears were deployed and retrieved, and number of grass carp caught. Environmental factors associated with these data (including average water temperature, depth, and backwater classification) are also provided. Specific datasets include SR_boat_count.csv and SR_boat_count_daily.csv which describe the number of boats performing grass carp removal on the Sandusky River; SR_electrofish_time.csv containing cumulative electrofishing shock time in the Sandusky River by month; SR_glatos_GC_2223.csv containing detections of grass carp in the Sandusky River between the VPS arrays provided by GLATOS; SR_temp_avg_EST.csv which contains average temperature in the Sandusky River summarized by hour; Sandusky_depth_84.tif which is a raster file containing bathymetery data for the Sandusky River; and backwater.shp, a shape file containing polygon features defining areas in the Sandusky River designated as backwater.
