How can I bulk download USGS Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) products?
The Bulk Download Web Application (BDWA) lets users download large amounts of satellite, aerial imagery and other geospatial data. A video "Using the EarthExplorer BDWA," explains how to add scenes through EarthExplorer and retrieve them with minimal user interaction. An April 2023 webinar, "The New and Improved Bulk Download Web Application," also provides an overview of the tool.
To receive bulk data on an external hard drive, users must provide drives that meet USGS specifications, pay for shipping and include a prepaid return label or carrier account number. Send an email request to custserv@usgs.gov with your contact information, requested product and requested area.
The Machine-to-Machine (M2M) Application Programming Interface (API) is another way to search for and download data from USGS EROS inventories. To request access, select the "Request Access" button on your EROS Registration System (ERS) profile, choose the M2M API option, complete all questions and submit the request. Requests are reviewed within 24 to 48 business hours.
