An antibiotic resistance gene (ARG) microarray in the Real-Time PCR (RT-PCR) machine
Detailed Description
An antibiotic resistance gene (ARG) microarray in the Real-Time PCR (RT-PCR) machine. We are using ARG microarrays to assess levels of ARGs in corals that have been treated with the antibiotic amoxicillin, the only known treatment effective at halting stony coral tissue loss disease lesion progression, to determine if discrete localized treatment is increasing levels of antibiotic resistance in the environment. We are also using ARG microarrays to establish baseline ARG levels in regions where SCTLD has not yet arrived to serve as an important baseline comparison in the event that SCTLD arrives and is treated.
