Braided river
Detailed Description
Using Landsat imagery, Dr. Alan Belward produced these maps of the Brahmaputra River region in Bangladesh. The river, which is prone to flooding, originates in the Himalayas and runs into the Bay of Bengal, with shifting channels creating a braided appearance. The large map shows the decrease (in red) and increase (in green) of water occurrence change intensity over several decades.
