Detailed Description
Row crop agriculture is pervasive in what was once the core breeding habitat of monarch butterflies. Corn and soy agriculture once provided abundant milkweed (Asclepia spp.) for monarchs to lay eggs and on which caterpillars fed. Corn and soy agriculture can no longer be considered habitat for monarch butterflies.
