FY22 WH Seafloor Mapping

Detailed Description

The year 2022 was big for the Sea-Floor Mapping Group at the Woods Hole Coastal and Marine Science Center! The group collected 1,750,043 bottom photographs, 6,144 kilometers of multibeam and water-column sonar lines, 5,856 kilometers of seismic lines, 89 sediment cores, and 35 sediment samples, has mapped 628 square kilometers, and has spent 117 days at sea on 11 different ships. These data were collected as part of a collaborative research program and include data collected by USGS and our partners in the Gulf of Mexico, Chesapeake Bay, Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary, Nantucket Sound, and other locations in the Atlantic Ocean.
