Radiometric Thorium Map, Atlantic Coastal Plain
Detailed Description
Regional airborne radiometric thorium collected during the NURE program over the southeastern U.S. Dashed line roughly outlines the Atlantic Coastal Plain. Thorium highs in the Atlantic Coastal Plain often represent heavy mineral sand deposits, limestone, or chalk. The Old Hickory and Trail Ridge heavy mineral sand deposits have been mined for titanium.
