RAMPS scientist training local seed collection crew
Detailed Description
USGS researcher training a local restoration seed collection crew on how to collect tissue samples for DNA analysis. The researcher partnered with the crew to support his reserearch that looks at how to better define populations of plant species important for restoration. If seed collectors accidentally combine genetically distinct populations of a given species, it could reduce the ability of that plant to produce abundant offspring and reduce its success at a restoration site.
