Sentinel Peak, Cascade Range at Sunset
Detailed Description
Sunset illuminates Sentinel Peak in the Cascade Range above South Cascade Glacier. Bright white seasonal snow is visible along the upper right flank of the glacier and banded bare ice is exposed toward the glacier terminus. South Cascade Glacier is one of five USGS Benchmark Glaciers, and scientists have been recording observations of its mass and condition since 1958.
