USGS Biologist Amanda Milde holds a 79 lb bighead carp captured, tagged, and released in Pool 18 of the Mississippi. This cooperative effort between FWS, USGS and Iowa DNR aims to replenish active transmitters in navigation pools 16-19 for helping determine movement between pools, and enhancing the utility of the real-time receivers for targeting locations and timing of commercially contracted removal efforts with Illinois Natural History Survey.
