USGS Nevada Groundwater Site 393310114475001

Detailed Description

Did you know the USGS has been studying groundwater since we were founded? USGS first measured the groundwater level at the well in this photo in 1918, over one hundred years ago! How often water levels are measured at a site in the USGS groundwater monitoring networks varies, depending on the scientific purpose of the measurement.

For this site in White Pine County, Nevada (393310114475001), USGS has field measurements back to 1918 and daily measurements since 1983. Today, this well is part of the USGS real-time groundwater level network, a group of over 1,800 groundwater sites where groundwater levels are recorded at 15 to 60 minute intervals, stored onsite, and then transmitted to USGS offices every 1 to 4 hours. You can view the most recent groundwater level data at this site online. This well is managed by the USGS Nevada Water Science Center.
