Because the lava flow in the Kapoho area is out of range of visual/UAS observations tonight, we are relying on seismicity to determine when it enters the ocean. As of 2:23 AM HST, it seems the flow has not yet met the water.

A moderate earthquake (5.5 preliminary) resulting from a volcanic explosion and continued collapse around Halemaumau occurred at 15:50 HST. Ash reached 8,000 ft. asl. Trace ashfall may occur over the Kau District.

As of 7:30 AM HST overflight, lava was about 430 yards from the ocean between Kapoho Beach Road and Kapoho Kai Drive.

UHH UAS thermal imaging flight indicates that lava is about 500 yards from Kapoho tidepools. Flow front is about 0.5 miles wide and extends from Kapoho Beach Road almost to Kapoho Kai Drive and down to Ililani Road.

F8 flow continues - advancing into Kapoho Crater and through Kapoho Beach Lots. At 10 AM, lava entered Green Lake. By 3PM, HCFD confirmed lake filled & water evaporated. Wide flow front is moving toward ocean.

Morning overflight (6:40 AM HST) indicates that the Fissure 8 flow is advancing on a broad front (~300 yards wide) and is within about 100 yards of Four Corners (Highway 132/137 intersection).

As of 4:10 AM HST, the Fissure 8 lava flow had advanced to within 160 meters (175 yards) of the intersection of Highways 132 and 137 at Four Corners.

Overflight at 6:30 AM HST showed Fissure 8 lava flow to be 0.84 miles above Four Corners. Over the last 2 hours it has advanced at a rate of 100 yards per hour. White steam plume at summit; earthquake activity remains high.

Ground and UAS crews report that the Fissure 8 lava flow front has advanced 50 yards in the past hour. It is approximately 1 mile above Four Corners.

Ground and UAS crews report a Fissure 8 flow front advance of 65 yards over 2 hours. The flow front is now 1.03 miles above Four Corners. The area is relatively flat. Lava is ponding and the flow front is broadening.

Reports from ground and UAS crews indicate that the Fissure 8 lava flow has not advanced significantly from it's 10 PM HST location and remains 1.07 miles above Four Corners.
