Episode 53 of the ongoing Halemaʻumaʻu eruption ended at 1:23 a.m. HST on August 13 after 9.6 hours of continuous lava fountaining.
Kilauea Message 2026-08-13 01:03:17 HST
The north vent fountain has dropped to 150-200 feet (50-60 meters) high. Tremor is also dropping. Deflation measured on the UWD tiltmeter is 13.7 microradians.
Kilauea Message 2026-08-12 23:39:19 HST
The north vent fountain is now about 300 feet (90 meters) high and feeds lava flows that cover about 40-50% of the floor of Halemaʻumaʻu crater. Currently the plume cloud is at about 11000 feet (3400 meters) ASL.
Kilauea Message 2026-08-12 21:51:40 HST
The north vent fountain is now about 330 feet (100 meters) high. The plume cloud is now about 10,000 feet (3,000 meters) ASL. Associated lava flows have covered about 30-40% of the crater floor at this time.
Kilauea Message 2026-08-12 20:30:31 HST
The north vent fountain remains about 350-400 feet (110-120 meters) high. The plume cloud has dropped to about 14000 feet ASL. Associated lava flows have covered about 30-40% of the crater floor at this time.
Kilauea Message 2026-08-12 18:42:59 HST
The north vent fountain has dropped to just over 350 feet (110 meters) high. The volcanic plume is blowing due west over the summit of Mauna Loa. Lava flows have covered about one third of the floor of Halemaʻumaʻu crater.
