Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Geospatial Dataset for the Geologic Framework and Hydrostratigraphy of the Edwards and Trinity Aquifers Within Hays County, Texas, at 1:24,000 Scale Geospatial Dataset for the Geologic Framework and Hydrostratigraphy of the Edwards and Trinity Aquifers Within Hays County, Texas, at 1:24,000 Scale

The karstic Edwards and Trinity aquifers are classified as major sources of water in south-central Texas by the Texas Water Development Board, and both are classified as major aquifers by the State of Texas. The Edwards and Trinity aquifers developed because of the original depositional history of the carbonate limestone and dolomite rocks that contain them, and the primary and secondary...

Geospatial Dataset for the Geologic Framework, Hydrostratigraphy, and Ichnology of the Blanco, Payton, Rough Hollow 7.5-Minute Quadrangles, Blanco, Comal, Hays, and Kendall Counties, Texas Geospatial Dataset for the Geologic Framework, Hydrostratigraphy, and Ichnology of the Blanco, Payton, Rough Hollow 7.5-Minute Quadrangles, Blanco, Comal, Hays, and Kendall Counties, Texas

The karstic Edwards and Trinity aquifers are classified as major sources of water in south-central Texas by the Texas Water Development Board, and both are classified as major aquifers by the State of Texas. The original depositional history of the carbonate limestone and dolomite rocks that contain the Edwards and Trinity aquifers provided the starting point from which primary and...

Coastal Single-Beam Bathymetry Data Collected in 2024 From Breton Island, Louisiana Coastal Single-Beam Bathymetry Data Collected in 2024 From Breton Island, Louisiana

As part of the restoration monitoring component of the Deepwater Horizon early restoration project, scientists from the U.S. Geological Survey St. Petersburg Coastal and Marine Science Center (USGS SPCMSC) conducted single-beam and multibeam bathymetry surveys around Breton Island, Louisiana (LA), from August 5-10, 2024, for Field Activity Number (FAN) 2024-320-FA. The purpose of data...

Coastal Single-Beam Bathymetry Data: Midnight Pass and Milton Pass, Florida, June 2025 Coastal Single-Beam Bathymetry Data: Midnight Pass and Milton Pass, Florida, June 2025

In June 2025, the U.S. Geological Survey St. Petersburg Coastal and Marine Science Center (USGS SPCMSC) participated in a multidisciplinary geoscientific field data collection within Midnight Pass and Milton Pass located along Florida’s west-central coastline, which opened as a result of hurricanes Helene and Milton in 2024. Researchers with the Nearshore Extreme Events Reconnaissance...

Detrital sanidine geochronology related to early Colorado River deposits, Arizona and California Detrital sanidine geochronology related to early Colorado River deposits, Arizona and California

Reported here are detrital sanidine argon geochronology data collected to better understand the early evolution of the Colorado River system. Samples were collect throughout the lower Colorado River corridor from Lake Mead to near Cibola, Arizona. Most samples are of the Bouse Formation but also include the deposits of Hualapai Wash, the Lost Cabin beds, and recent Colorado River...

Soil-Water-Balance model and data used in the hydrogeologic framework and conceptual groundwater-flow model of the panhandle and northwest parts of the High Plains (Ogallala) aquifer in Oklahoma, 1998–2022 Soil-Water-Balance model and data used in the hydrogeologic framework and conceptual groundwater-flow model of the panhandle and northwest parts of the High Plains (Ogallala) aquifer in Oklahoma, 1998–2022

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Oklahoma Water Resources Board (OWRB), constructed a Soil-Water-Balance (SWB) model of the High Plains aquifer system (hereinafter referred to as the "Ogallala aquifer" in northwestern Oklahoma. The SWB model as well as supplementary data were used to (1) estimate recharge to the Ogallala aquifer in northwestern Oklahoma, and (2)...

Synthetic geologic deformation model distributions for use in 2025 USGS Puerto Rico-U.S. Virgin Islands National Seismic Hazard Model update Synthetic geologic deformation model distributions for use in 2025 USGS Puerto Rico-U.S. Virgin Islands National Seismic Hazard Model update

This Data Release provides synthetic probability density functions used in the geologic deformation model as part of the 2025 National Seismic Hazard Model update for Puerto Rico-U.S. Virgin Islands. We include files implemented in the earthquake rupture forecast using the inversion framework. Modeling philosophy and methodologies are described in the interpretative companion manuscript...

Western U.S. Date of Last Event (DOLE) for use in time-dependent probabilistic seismic hazard analyses Western U.S. Date of Last Event (DOLE) for use in time-dependent probabilistic seismic hazard analyses

This Data Release contains two compilations provide information on the date of the last known earthquake in the U.S. where available (conterminous U.S. and Alaska). There are two spatial datasets with different feature geometries — line features (“HistDOLE_v1”) and point features (“PaleoDOLE_v1”). The line features describe surface ruptures constrained by historical or near-historical...

Reproduction and locations of oaks in Yolo County, California, USA from 2013-2023 Reproduction and locations of oaks in Yolo County, California, USA from 2013-2023

Oaks were mapped in a portion of Yolo County, California, USA. For 26 focal trees, acorn counts were conducted from 2013-2023. Trees were located in rural and urban areas. Rural trees were located visually and location was recorded. Urban tree locations were drawn from randomly distributed point locations at 1.2 valley oaks per hectare. The data also include distance between oak trees to...

Grain size analysis and total carbon content of augered sediment samples from Barter Island, Alaska Grain size analysis and total carbon content of augered sediment samples from Barter Island, Alaska

This data release contains grain size and total carbon analysis of sediment samples from 1 inch hand-augered cores collected from Barter Island, Alaska. These data were collected in 2016 and 2019 (USGS Field Activity 2016-645-FA and 2019-634-FA). Data include location information (latitude, longitude, depth), and the weight percent of 65 phi bins, four size fractions (gravel, sand, silt...

Tidal marsh inundation state and water level observations with concurrent tide gauge measurements Tidal marsh inundation state and water level observations with concurrent tide gauge measurements

This data release contains water level observations from a sensor grid deployed in the tidal marshes of the Charles H. Wheeler Wildlife Management Area in the central Long Island Sound (Connecticut, USA). Water level sensors were deployed between August 2018 and December 2018 to serve as a calibration/validation (cal/val) dataset for the development, refinement, and evaluation of remote...

Landslide seismic features and station picks for events from a global catalog Landslide seismic features and station picks for events from a global catalog

This data release contains files supporting the publication “Landslide volume estimation from seismic waveform features using a global catalog of seismogenic events” (Collins and others, 2026). Events.csv lists each landslide event used in the publication, published event ids, names, times, locations, and volumes taken from Seismogenic Landslides and other Mass Movements (ver. 3.0, May...
