The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Grain-size analysis data of sediment samples from the beach and nearshore environments at the Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge DUNEX site, North Carolina in 2021 Grain-size analysis data of sediment samples from the beach and nearshore environments at the Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge DUNEX site, North Carolina in 2021

These data provide grain-size measurements from sediment samples collected as part of the USGS DUring Nearshore Event eXperiment (DUNEX) site on Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge, NC. DUNEX is a multi-agency, academic, and non-governmental organization collaborative community experiment designed to study nearshore coastal processes during storm events. USGS participation in DUNEX will...

Data for analysis of open removal models with temporary emigration and population dynamics to inform invasive animal management Data for analysis of open removal models with temporary emigration and population dynamics to inform invasive animal management

This data release includes the data and computer code that we produced to fit two open-robust design removal models developed to simultaneously model population dynamics, temporary emigration, and imperfect detection: a random walk linear trend model (estimable without ancillary information), and a 2-age class integrated population model (IPM) that used prior information for age...

Sagebrush Restoration Following Fire Disturbance in the Virginia Mountains, Nevada (2018) Sagebrush Restoration Following Fire Disturbance in the Virginia Mountains, Nevada (2018)

We developed a framework that strategically targets burned areas for restoration actions (e.g., seeding or planting sagebrush) that have the greatest potential to positively benefit Greater Sage-grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus; hereafter sage-grouse) populations through time. Specifically, we estimated sagebrush (Artemisia Spp.) recovery following wildfire and risk of non-native annual...

Ecological modeling output for the Lake Okeechobee System Operating Manual iteration 3 (of 3), 2022 Ecological modeling output for the Lake Okeechobee System Operating Manual iteration 3 (of 3), 2022

Ecological models facilitate the evaluation and assessment of alternative approaches to restore the Greater Everglades ecosystem. Joint Ecosystem Modeling (JEM) provides ecological models tailored to address specific management issues. The multi-agency REstoration, COordination and VERification (RECOVER) science team uses ecological models (i.e., ecological planning tools) to evaluate...

Generalized use classification for groundwater sites in California with publicly available water-quality data in the U.S. Geological Survey National Water Information System (NWIS) data archive (ver. 1.1, April 2025) Generalized use classification for groundwater sites in California with publicly available water-quality data in the U.S. Geological Survey National Water Information System (NWIS) data archive (ver. 1.1, April 2025)

The U.S. Geological Survey Water Data for the Nation (WDFN; U.S. Geological Survey, 2025) data archive contains publicly available water-quality data for approximately 21,000 groundwater wells and springs in California. This data release publishes site type information and a generalized use classification for each site. The generalized use category is derived from, but is not equivalent...
