Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Algorithms for model parameter estimation and state estimation applied to a state-space model for one-dimensional vertical infiltration incorporating snowmelt rate as a system input Algorithms for model parameter estimation and state estimation applied to a state-space model for one-dimensional vertical infiltration incorporating snowmelt rate as a system input
The algorithms and input data included in this data release are used to interpret time-series data (water-table altitude, precipitation, snowmelt, and potential evapotranspiration) over an observation period to estimate model parameters of a State-Space Model (SSM) of vertical infiltration to the groundwater table. The SSM model is coupled with a Kalman Filter (KF) to estimate system...
Field, remote sensing, and modeling data used for Collins et al., Rockfall Kinematics from Massive Rock Cliffs: Outlier Boulders and Flyrock Resulting from the 2020 Whitney Portal, California Rockfalls Field, remote sensing, and modeling data used for Collins et al., Rockfall Kinematics from Massive Rock Cliffs: Outlier Boulders and Flyrock Resulting from the 2020 Whitney Portal, California Rockfalls
This data release includes information used to support the manuscript "Rockfall kinematics from massive rock cliffs: outlier boulders and flyrock from Whitney Portal, California rockfalls". The included datasets and supplement include data that was collected and processed to investigate the kinematics of boulder trajectories and impacts to both other boulders and to existing trees on the...
Giant Gartersnake (Thamnophis gigas) Prey Preference (2014) Giant Gartersnake (Thamnophis gigas) Prey Preference (2014)
This is an examination of the diet of a threatened snake, giant gartersnake (Thamnophis gigas). Prey preference, prey selection and prey availability (in the laboratory and the field) were measured to understand prey dynamics for better conservation of this snake. In the laboratory, olfactory trials were performed on neonate snakes and tongue-flicks, lounges and attacks were counted and...
Supplemental Data: Hydrologic Budget of the Harney Basin Groundwater System, Southeastern Oregon, 1982-2016 Supplemental Data: Hydrologic Budget of the Harney Basin Groundwater System, Southeastern Oregon, 1982-2016
This USGS data release presents data used to estimate and summarize hydrologic budget components of the Harney Basin groundwater system, Southeastern Oregon, 1982-2016. The supplemental data consist of five child items. The child items are: (1) Harney Basin Boundaries: Hydrographic Area, Groundwater Evapotranspiration Area, Regions, Lowlands, Uplands, and Selected Watersheds in Harney...
Data release for cosmogenic beryllium-10 exposure ages of moraine boulders in the Stura Valley, Maritime Alps, northwestern Italy Data release for cosmogenic beryllium-10 exposure ages of moraine boulders in the Stura Valley, Maritime Alps, northwestern Italy
This report summarizes the cosmogenic beryllium-10 (10Be) geochronologic results from boulders deposited on moraines in the Stura Valley of the Maritime Alps, the southwestern most extent of the European Alpine mountain chain, northwestern Italy. Within this report are detailed the methodologies used to collect samples of whole rock, determine the concentrations of cosmogenic 10Be in...
CE-QUAL-W2 models for the Willamette River and major tributaries downstream of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dams: 2011, 2015, and 2016 (version 1.1, December 2023) CE-QUAL-W2 models for the Willamette River and major tributaries downstream of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dams: 2011, 2015, and 2016 (version 1.1, December 2023)
In the Willamette River Basin in northwestern Oregon, stream temperature has been altered by 13 dams operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), negatively influencing threatened populations of native salmonids. CE-QUAL-W2, a two-dimensional, hydrodynamic water quality model, has been used to investigate temperature and heat patterns in the Willamette River and the downstream...
