Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Sediment Core Microfossil Data Collected from the Coastal Marsh of Grand Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, Mississippi, USA Sediment Core Microfossil Data Collected from the Coastal Marsh of Grand Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, Mississippi, USA

To aid in geologic studies of sediment transport and environmental change of a coastal marsh, 1-centimeter (cm) foraminiferal subsamples were taken from seven sediment push cores collected in the Grand Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve (GNDNERR), Mississippi (MS), in October 2016. The push cores were collected along two, shore-perpendicular transects at 5, 15, 25, and 50 meters (m)...

Mississippi National River and Recreation Area (MISS): Sonar Data Mapping to Assess Native Mussel Habitat Mississippi National River and Recreation Area (MISS): Sonar Data Mapping to Assess Native Mussel Habitat

The National Park Service (NPS) partnered with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) to collect hydroacoustic data of the Mississippi River for the development of high-resolution bathymetry and sidescan imagery. The combined datasets will provide key components to characterizing benthic habitat. These information needs were highly desired by the NPS to more accurately assess environmental...

St. Croix National Scenic Riverway (SACN): Sonar Data Mapping to Assess Native Mussel Habitat St. Croix National Scenic Riverway (SACN): Sonar Data Mapping to Assess Native Mussel Habitat

The National Park Service (NPS) partnered with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) to collect hydroacoustic data of the Saint Croix River for the development of high-resolution bathymetry and sidescan imagery. The combined datasets will provide key components to characterizing benthic habitat. These information needs were highly desired by the NPS to more accurately assess environmental...

Pathogen and Contaminant Exposure Data from Southern Beaufort Sea Polar Bears, 2007-2014 Pathogen and Contaminant Exposure Data from Southern Beaufort Sea Polar Bears, 2007-2014

These were data collected from polar bears from the Southern Beaufort Sea during the spring between 2007 and 2014. Data include individual ID, capture date, sex and age class, whether individuals visited bowhead whale carrion sites, exposure status relative to five pathogens, and concentrations of certain persistent organic pollutants.

Hydrologic, water-quality, fire, forest-cover, and other data, the Great Dismal Swamp, Virginia and North Carolina Hydrologic, water-quality, fire, forest-cover, and other data, the Great Dismal Swamp, Virginia and North Carolina

The Great Dismal Swamp (the swamp) is a forested peatland in southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina. Since early colonial times, timber harvesting and drainage through a network of ditches constructed to facilitate the harvesting have altered these ecosystems. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has managed the swamp as the Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge since...
