Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Surface Elevation Table and Marker Horizon Measurements Along the Pacific Coast (ver. 2.0, June 2025) Surface Elevation Table and Marker Horizon Measurements Along the Pacific Coast (ver. 2.0, June 2025)

Surface elevation table and marker horizon (SET-MH) plots were installed at multiple marshes along the Pacific coast beginning in 2012. They are used to measure millimeters of change in marsh elevation and accretion over time. This dataset includes SET pin height to measure elevation change and associated feldspar marker horizon depth to measure surface accretion spanning the Pacific...

Capture Data from Molting Steller's Eiders (Polysticta stelleri) at Izembek and Nelson Lagoons, Alaska Capture Data from Molting Steller's Eiders (Polysticta stelleri) at Izembek and Nelson Lagoons, Alaska

These data are in one table and contain information on the location, age, sex, and measurements (mass, ninth primary, culmen, and total tarsus) of Steller's Eiders during the flightless molt period. Captures took place at Izembek and Nelson Lagoons on the north side of the Alaska Peninsula.

Distribution Data and Habitat Models for Joshua Trees (Yucca brevifolia and Y. jaegeriana) Throughout their Range Distribution Data and Habitat Models for Joshua Trees (Yucca brevifolia and Y. jaegeriana) Throughout their Range

We delineated the existing empirical and modeled ranges of western and eastern Joshua trees (Yucca brevifolia and Y. jaegeriana, respectively) with high fidelity and across their ranges in Arizona, California, Nevada, and Utah, USA. Most species distribution models (SDMs) rely on sparse species occurrence datasets and random pseudoabsences. In contrast, the tall stature and distinctive...

Prairie dog trapping locations treated with plague or vaccine baits in western states Prairie dog trapping locations treated with plague or vaccine baits in western states

The data were collected to determine the density and abundance of prairie dogs in relation to treatment with vaccine or placebo baits and the occurrence of plague.

Gravity data in the Upper Peninsula, Michigan for geophysical profile modeling of the Midcontinent Rift System and associated structures Gravity data in the Upper Peninsula, Michigan for geophysical profile modeling of the Midcontinent Rift System and associated structures

Gravity data were collected from 2022 through 2024 to provide more detailed data for geophysical profile modeling of the Midcontinent Rift System and associated structures. This data release provides the complete Bouguer anomaly gravity data for 256 new gravity stations to supplement existing data and replace erroneous existing data.

Data acquired in laboratory experiments conducted with a model freshwater invertebrate to characterize dietary bioavailability of uranium Data acquired in laboratory experiments conducted with a model freshwater invertebrate to characterize dietary bioavailability of uranium

Determining the environmental health effects of uranium (U) to aquatic species requires understanding its exposure pathways, which include both the aqueous and dietary uptake routes. But little is known about the drivers of U bioavailability from solid phases. In this study, we characterized U bioavailability from 8 solids using a freshwater invertebrate as a model species. Solids...
