Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Abandoned Mine Land (AML) Geochemical Data: Silver Island and Crater Island Mining Districts, UT Abandoned Mine Land (AML) Geochemical Data: Silver Island and Crater Island Mining Districts, UT

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) collected a total of 179 samples of surficial sediment from abandoned mine wastepiles, ephemeral channels, nearby outcrops, and background areas representative of the undisturbed lithology within the Silver Island and Crater Island mining districts (Krahulec, 2018).The samples were sieved to obtain the less than 177 micron fraction. Geochemical...

Remotely sensed data acquired from an Uncrewed Aerial System (UAS) and field measurements of flow depth and velocity from the North Santiam River, Oregon, collected in July 2022 Remotely sensed data acquired from an Uncrewed Aerial System (UAS) and field measurements of flow depth and velocity from the North Santiam River, Oregon, collected in July 2022

A reach of the North Santiam River, Oregon, was used as a case study in an ongoing effort to develop and test uncrewed aircraft system (UAS)-based salmon habitat mapping techniques using: (1) particle image velocimetry (PIV) for estimating surface flow velocities from remotely sensed data; and (2) two-dimensional (2D) flow modeling based on remotely sensed topography and bathymetry (topo

Daily evaporation rates computed using five methods at the LZ40 platform in Lake Okeechobee, Florida, December 2012 to December 2016 Daily evaporation rates computed using five methods at the LZ40 platform in Lake Okeechobee, Florida, December 2012 to December 2016

Daily evaporation rates were calculated at the open-water LZ40-platform in the interior of Lake Okeechobee, Florida, from December 1, 2012 through December 31, 2016 using five methods (Shoemaker et al., 2024); specifically, the Penman, Priestly-Taylor, Mass-Transfer, Simple, and Turc equations. Bowen-ratio energy-budget derived daily evaporation rates calculated from micro-meteorological...

Occurrences of Pliocene Planktic foraminifers in core samples from SE Florida Occurrences of Pliocene Planktic foraminifers in core samples from SE Florida

Data consist of presence / absence records of planktic foraminifer species from 5 core samples at 3 localities in southeast Florida. Samples are placed in biostratigraphic zones and ages are estimated from calibrated first and last appearances of select taxa.

USGS CoastCam at Isla Verde, Puerto Rico: 2018-2019 Calibration and GNSS Topography Survey Data USGS CoastCam at Isla Verde, Puerto Rico: 2018-2019 Calibration and GNSS Topography Survey Data

A digital video camera was installed at Isla Verde, Puerto Rico (PR) and faced northeast along the beach. Every hour during daylight hours, daily from February 1, 2019, to July 15, 2019, the camera collected raw video and produced snapshots and time-averaged image products. This data release includes the necessary intrinsic orientation (IO) and extrinsic orientation (EO) calibration data...

USGS CoastCam at Waiakāne, Moloka'i, Hawai'i: 2018 Calibration and GNSS Topography Survey Data USGS CoastCam at Waiakāne, Moloka'i, Hawai'i: 2018 Calibration and GNSS Topography Survey Data

A digital video camera was installed at Waiakāne, Moloka'i, Hawai'i (HI) and faced west along the beach. Every hour during daylight hours, daily from June 26, 2018, to September 20, 2018, the camera collected raw video and produced snapshots and time-averaged image products. This data release includes the necessary intrinsic orientation (IO) and extrinsic orientation (EO) calibration...
