The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Mercury Concentrations, Diet, and Gut Microbiota Diversity of Southern Beaufort Sea Polar Bears, 2008-2019 Mercury Concentrations, Diet, and Gut Microbiota Diversity of Southern Beaufort Sea Polar Bears, 2008-2019

This dataset is two tables with data collected and derived from polar bears sampled in Alaska's southern Beaufort Sea during 2008-2019. Collected data includes demographic and morphometric information and derived data includes mercury concentrations in hair samples. Ancillary data includes gut microbiome abundances, diversity indices, calculated body condition, and the proportions of...

Panarctic permafrost microbial community and edaphic data collected from 2010-2020 Panarctic permafrost microbial community and edaphic data collected from 2010-2020

The datasets contained herein include permafrost microbial community taxanomic and functional information using metagenomics from 133 samples across the panarctic. Datasets also include soil edaphic and location data.

Grain-size data for sediment samples collected in Whiskeytown Lake, northern California, in 2018 and 2019 Grain-size data for sediment samples collected in Whiskeytown Lake, northern California, in 2018 and 2019

This data release supersedes version 1.0, published in July 2021 at https://doi.org/10.5066/P9BHOPEP. Versioning details are documented in the accompanying Whiskeytown_VersionHistory.txt file The Carr Fire ignited in northern California in July 2018, and ultimately burned almost 300,000 acres (approximately half on federal lands), resulting in a federal major-disaster declaration (DR...

Sediment grain-size data from the Klamath estuary, California Sediment grain-size data from the Klamath estuary, California

Note: this data release has been deprecated. Find the updated version here: https://doi.org/10.5066/P13E57T8 This data release includes grain-size measurements of sediment samples collected from the substrate surface and uppermost 10 cm of sediment deposits in the Klamath estuary, northern California. Samples were collected using a BMH-60 bed-material sampler deployed from a boat, or by...

North American Bat Monitoring Program (NABat) Integrated Summer Species Distribution Model: Predicted Tricolored Bat Occupancy Probabilities (ver. 1.1, October 2024) North American Bat Monitoring Program (NABat) Integrated Summer Species Distribution Model: Predicted Tricolored Bat Occupancy Probabilities (ver. 1.1, October 2024)

These data contain the results from the North American Bat Monitoring Program's (NABat) integrated species distribution model (iSDM) for tricolored bats (Perimyotis subflavus). The provided tabular data include predictions (with uncertainty) for tricolored bat occupancy probabilities (i.e., probability of presence) based on data from the entire summer season (May 1–Aug 31), averaged from...

North American Bat Monitoring Program (NABat) Bayesian Hierarchical Model for Winter Abundance: Predicted Population Estimates (2022 and 2023) North American Bat Monitoring Program (NABat) Bayesian Hierarchical Model for Winter Abundance: Predicted Population Estimates (2022 and 2023)

The dataset is comprised of historical observations and predictions of winter colony counts at known sites for three bat species (little brown bat, Myotis lucifugus; tricolored bat, Perimyotis subflavus; and big brown bat, Eptesicus fuscus). The dataset consists of two separate but related data files in tabular format (comma-separated values [.csv]). Each data set consists of predicted...
