Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Density and magnetic susceptibility measurements on Archean rocks, northwestern Minnesota, 2021 Density and magnetic susceptibility measurements on Archean rocks, northwestern Minnesota, 2021

Rock physical property measurements were collected on core samples to help understand the causative sources of gravity and magnetic survey anomalies in northwestern Minnesota. A total of 410 measurements of magnetic susceptibility and density on Archean core samples from 20 boreholes have been conducted. The measurements aid in interpretation of gravity and airborne magnetic data that...

Time-series measurements of oceanographic and seabed response data collected in Cape Cod Bay, Barnstable, MA, March 10 to April 7, 2021 Time-series measurements of oceanographic and seabed response data collected in Cape Cod Bay, Barnstable, MA, March 10 to April 7, 2021

To assess cross-shore sediment transport prediction techniques in coastal models for a wave-dominated sandy coast, the U.S. Geological Survey Woods Hole Coastal and Marine Science Center collected data to measure wave-induced and mean current water velocities near the seabed and the response of the seabed to these forces. A four-legged bottom landing frame (quadpod) containing...

Merged topography and bathymetry, Glacier Bay and Icy Strait, Alaska Merged topography and bathymetry, Glacier Bay and Icy Strait, Alaska

This work integrated multiple topographic and bathymetric data sources to generate a merged topobathymetric map of Glacier Bay, Alaska (AK) and vicinity, including Icy Strait and parts of Lynn Canal. Earlier topobathymetric sources covering the Glacier Bay region were originally developed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Centers for Environmental...

Select Borehole Data for the Salton Sea area and vicinity, Imperial-Riverside-San Diego-San Bernardino Counties, CA Select Borehole Data for the Salton Sea area and vicinity, Imperial-Riverside-San Diego-San Bernardino Counties, CA

Borehole lithology data from drillers' log descriptions were compiled for the Salton Sea area and vicinity. This data will be utilized to support hydrogeologic and hydrologic investigations. Data for some parts of the Salton Sea Watershed were already compiled for other USGS reports. These included Borrego Valley (Faunt and others, 2015), and the East Mesa (Shepherd and Rosenberg, 2024)...

Digital elevation models with elevation uncertainty treatment, Plum Island Estuary, Massachusetts, 2021 Digital elevation models with elevation uncertainty treatment, Plum Island Estuary, Massachusetts, 2021

This data release includes digital elevation models (DEMs) that were created using Monte Carlo simulations with the aim to reduce elevation overestimation in coastal wetlands at Plum Island, MA. We evaluated the performance of coastal wetland elevation refinement by using bare earth DEMs and DEMs created from the last return from the light detection and ranging (lidar) point cloud...

Everglades Vulnerability Analysis (EVA) GIS Library Everglades Vulnerability Analysis (EVA) GIS Library

The Everglades Vulnerability Analysis (EVA) is a series of connected, modular Bayesian networks that predict the response of several Everglades indicators of ecosystem health to changes in hydrology, salinity, and the landscape. EVA produces spatial explicit model outputs, and we created and compiled shapefiles to: 1) delineate boundaries that are relevant to the EVA project and 2)...
