Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Digitized Maps of the Potentiometric Surface of the Sparta Aquifer in North-Central Louisiana, 1886 to 2012 (ver. 1.1, April 2021) Digitized Maps of the Potentiometric Surface of the Sparta Aquifer in North-Central Louisiana, 1886 to 2012 (ver. 1.1, April 2021)

The Sparta aquifer is a primary source of groundwater in north-central Louisiana with more than 60 million gallons of water per day being withdrawn in 2015, and public supply and Industry account for over 90 percent of the water-use demand from the Sparta aquifer (Collier, 2018). Concentrated withdrawals from the Sparta aquifer have caused regional water-level declines within the Sparta...

Tracking Data for Emperor Geese (Anser canagicus) Tracking Data for Emperor Geese (Anser canagicus)

This data release includes 2 child items with tracking data for Emperor Geese, a waterfowl species endemic to the Bering Sea region that breeds primarily in western Alaska on the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta and spends the winter in southwestern Alaska and throughout the Aleutian Islands. Child Item 1: "Argos Satellite Tracking Data for Emperor Geese (Anser canagicus) - Processed Data" --...

Visible and near-infrared spectroscopy for sediment samples collected across North-eastern U.S. Visible and near-infrared spectroscopy for sediment samples collected across North-eastern U.S.

This data record contains a CSV file with spectral reflectance (420-2114 nm) for sediment samples collected from each of four source locations (cropland, stream bank, glaciolacustrine, and street dust) located across sites in the Northwestern US during prior studies. Data were collected in a laboratory setting using Spectrecology USB4000-VIS-NIR and NIRQuest512-2.2 spectrometers. The...

Species Observations from Pitfall Trap Arrays, Species Pool Matrices, and Patch Locations in Southern California from 1995-2015 Species Observations from Pitfall Trap Arrays, Species Pool Matrices, and Patch Locations in Southern California from 1995-2015

Observations (reduced to detected/not detected) of 45 vertebrate species (seven mammals, seven amphibians, and 31 reptiles) across Southern California pitfall sampling projects conducted between 1995 through 2015. Habitat patch locations of every pitfall sampling project presented in a shapefile. Habitat patches were measured based on the size when pitfall sampling began within each...

Genetic and Habitat Data for Plantago ovata in the Mojave Desert Genetic and Habitat Data for Plantago ovata in the Mojave Desert

These datasets were developed to represent the genetic diversity, population structure, and geographic distribution of Plantago ovata in the Mojave Desert. This data release consists of two tab-delimited text files representing the genetic diversity and structure of Plantago ovata (.genepop and .vcf), and two raster spatial datasets (GeoTIFF) reflecting predicted habitat for the species...

Post-fire conifer regeneration observations for National Forest land in California (2009 - 2017) Post-fire conifer regeneration observations for National Forest land in California (2009 - 2017)

This data consists of presence/absence observations for post-fire conifer regeneration. The data also includes estimates of plot-level topography (slope, aspect), relativized differenced normalized burn ratio (RdNBR), post-fire climate, live basal area, and seed rain. These data support the following publication:
