Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Audiomagnetotelluric sounding data, Rio Grande rift, New Mexico, 1997-2004 Audiomagnetotelluric sounding data, Rio Grande rift, New Mexico, 1997-2004

This data set includes the audio-magnetotelluric (AMT) sounding data collected from 1997 to 2004 in and near the Rio Grande rift, New Mexico. The U.S. Geological Survey conducted a series of multidisciplinary studies, including magnetotelluric surveys, in the Rio Grande rift to improve understanding of the hydrogeology of the Santa Fe Group and the nature of the sedimentary deposits...

Consolidated Standardized Survey-Grade Checkpoints 3DEP 2010 to 2017 Consolidated Standardized Survey-Grade Checkpoints 3DEP 2010 to 2017

The 3D Elevation Program (3DEP) is managed by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) National Geospatial Program to respond to growing needs for high-quality topographic data and for a wide range of other three-dimensional (3D) representations of the Nation's natural and constructed features. 3DEP informs critical decisions that are made across our Nation every day that depend on elevation...

Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) results for varying industries, 2021-2022 Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) results for varying industries, 2021-2022

Samples were collected for a comparison method development study with the University of Minnesota and the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) National Water Quality Laboratory (NWQL) in Lakewood, Colorado. Widely used liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) methods fail to capture large fractions of total organofluorine in environmental samples confounding the assessment and...

Evaluation of multiple sedation techniques on invasive carps and native fish species in summer 2023 and 2024 Evaluation of multiple sedation techniques on invasive carps and native fish species in summer 2023 and 2024

This study evaluated three sedation methods to determine their efficacy for use during telemetry tagging. Five fish species (bighead carp, grass carp, bigmouth buffalo, American paddlefish, and lake sturgeon) were sedated using eugenol (AQUI-S® 20E), dissolved carbon dioxide, and electroanesthesia to determine sedation induction times. After sedation, half of the fish from each treatment...

Organic Geochemical Analysis Results Derived from Sediment Core Data Collected in 2021 from Siskiwit Bay, Lake Superior, Wisconsin, USA Organic Geochemical Analysis Results Derived from Sediment Core Data Collected in 2021 from Siskiwit Bay, Lake Superior, Wisconsin, USA

This dataset contains geochemical, isotopic, and biomarker data derived from sediment cores collected in Siskiwit Bay, Lake Superior, Wisconsin, USA. The dataset supports the reconstruction of historical phytoplankton communities, including cyanobacterial blooms, and environmental conditions over the past ~5,400 years. Measurements include carotenoid and chlorophyll pigments (via high...

Aerial images used to test a sundial method for inferring image acquisition time from shadow orientation Aerial images used to test a sundial method for inferring image acquisition time from shadow orientation

This data release provides aerial images acquired through the National Agricultural Imagery Program (NAIP) used to test a method for inferring image acquisition time from shadow orientation. For many applications, such as linking remotely sensed data to streamflow recorded at a gaging station, knowing the time an image is acquired is important, but such metadata often is not available...
