Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Estimates of microcystin concentration and content using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay on samples collected from experiments on cyanobacteria in the Great Lakes and field data from the Mississippi River Estimates of microcystin concentration and content using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay on samples collected from experiments on cyanobacteria in the Great Lakes and field data from the Mississippi River

From 2017-2019, the Upper Midwest Environmental Sciences Center (UMESC) analyzed microcystin concentrations in samples collected from three different studies. The first study was on the movement and distribution of invasive carp (Bighead Carp, Silver Carp, Grass Carp) in the upper Mississippi River between lock and dam 16 and lock and dam 19. Samples were collected from May through...

Greater white-fronted goose Anser albifrons habitat use in Louisiana in winter, 2016-2019 (ver. 2.0, December 2025) Greater white-fronted goose Anser albifrons habitat use in Louisiana in winter, 2016-2019 (ver. 2.0, December 2025)

Greater White-fronted Geese Anser albifrons breed in Arctic habitats in North America and winter in the California Central Valley, Mexico and southern United States. Louisiana historically provided winter habitat to a large portion of the Greater White-fronted Goose population in North America. We used global positioning system (GPS) neck collars to monitor 78 Greater White-fronted Geese...

This dataset contains mineral chemistry data collected for bastnasite and other rare earth carbonate minerals from the Mountain Pass rare earth element deposit, California, USA. See related primary publication for a detailed description of this dataset.

Dryland Soil Carbon in Southeast Arizona Dryland Soil Carbon in Southeast Arizona

Increasing soil carbon sequestration is part of a suite of approaches to reducing atmospheric carbon and addressing climate change. The soil carbon sequestration capability of a landscape is a function of ecological, edaphic, climatic, and anthropogenic factors. Landscape degradation is associated with a loss of soil carbon, but ecological restoration, alternative agricultural techniques...

GIS Data for Geologic Map of the Central Part of the Northern Park Range, Jackson and Routt Counties, Colorado GIS Data for Geologic Map of the Central Part of the Northern Park Range, Jackson and Routt Counties, Colorado

This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data release provides a digital geospatial database for the geologic map of the central part of the Northern Park Range, Jackson and Routt Counties, Colorado (Snyder, 1980). Attribute tables and geospatial features (points, lines, and polygons) conform to the Geologic Map Schema (USGS NCGMP, 2020) and represent the geologic map as published in USGS...

Geochemical and mineralogical data on core samples from the Lewis Shale in the USGS Cow Creek 1-21 well, eastern Washakie Basin, Wyoming Geochemical and mineralogical data on core samples from the Lewis Shale in the USGS Cow Creek 1-21 well, eastern Washakie Basin, Wyoming

This data release contains geochemical and mineralogical laboratory results from core samples collected from the USGS Cow Creek 1-21 well. The well was drilled and cored in 2022 and targeted the Lewis Shale on the eastern edge of the Washakie Basin in Carbon County, Wyoming. The core data include results from total organic carbon (TOC) and total carbon (TC) analysis, programmed pyrolysis
