The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

A Synthesis of Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment Rankings for Species of Greatest Conservation Need in the Northeast US from 2010-2023 A Synthesis of Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment Rankings for Species of Greatest Conservation Need in the Northeast US from 2010-2023

This dataset details individual species and natural habitat vulnerability rankings, including contextual study-specific information. This data was collected from original publications found through a literature search. Information is cumulative to include climate change vulnerability assessment (CCVA) results summarized in Staudinger et al. (2015) and published as of December 2023.

Geochemical and mineralogical data for Upper Devonian gray, black, and pyritic black shales from the Appalachian Basin Geochemical and mineralogical data for Upper Devonian gray, black, and pyritic black shales from the Appalachian Basin

Geochemical and mineralogical characterization data was collected for samples of the Upper Devonian Hanover and Dunkirk Formations from outcrops in the Appalachian Basin (Chautauqua County, New York). The data was integrated with outcrop descriptions in a publication (see larger work) that describes the enrichment of particular trace metals and minerals in different shale types formed...

North American dataset of ecosystem properties in tidal saline wetlands—Canopy height, aboveground biomass, productivity, soil carbon density, and soil carbon accumulation North American dataset of ecosystem properties in tidal saline wetlands—Canopy height, aboveground biomass, productivity, soil carbon density, and soil carbon accumulation

This dataset includes literature-derived ecological data from tidal saline wetlands across the United States, Canada, and Mexico for the following ecosystem properties: canopy height, aboveground biomass, productivity, soil carbon density, and soil carbon accumulation rates.

Database for the geologic map of the Frederick 30 x 60 quadrangle, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia Database for the geologic map of the Frederick 30 x 60 quadrangle, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia

The database for the geologic map of the Frederick 30 x 60 quadrangle covers the distinct geologic provinces and sections of the central Appalachian region that are defined by unique bedrock and resulting landforms. From west to east, the provinces include the Great Valley section of the Valley and Ridge province, the Blue Ridge province, and the Piedmont province; in the extreme...

2025 Wetland Accretion Measurements from Smithsonian Environmental Research Center SMARTX Warming Plots 2025 Wetland Accretion Measurements from Smithsonian Environmental Research Center SMARTX Warming Plots

Sediment accretion measurements were made at the SMARTX warming experiment at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center's Global Change Research Wetland. Feldspar marker horizons were established at the beginning of the experiment in 2016 in the warming plots, and were subsequently buried over time by wetland accretion of both organic and inorganic matter. These data include the...
