Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Amphibian nighttime call data from Midwest ARMI cricket frog surveys 2024 (ver. 1.1, April 2026) Amphibian nighttime call data from Midwest ARMI cricket frog surveys 2024 (ver. 1.1, April 2026)

This dataset consists of raw survey data from nighttime call surveys for anurans collected as part of a series of surveys targeting Blanchard's cricket frog (Acris blanchardi) in 2024 in the upper Midwest, United States of America. Anuran communities were surveyed during the night using parabolic microphones or naked ear with multiple observers surveying sites independently over several...

Data and Code Release: Comparison of Recovery Rates from Rapid DNA Extraction Kits for Point of Use eDNA Detection Data and Code Release: Comparison of Recovery Rates from Rapid DNA Extraction Kits for Point of Use eDNA Detection

We evaluated extraction efficiency of four DNA rapid extraction protocols using filters spiked with primary cultured grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) gill cells. The extraction methods included two syringe-based column extractions, an extraction solution, and a Chelex extraction protocol alongside a laboratory-based spin column kit. We estimated DNA yield using a newly designed...

GIS Data for Geologic Map of Precambrian Rocks of the Sierra Madre, Carbon County, Wyoming and Jackson and Routt Counties, Colorado GIS Data for Geologic Map of Precambrian Rocks of the Sierra Madre, Carbon County, Wyoming and Jackson and Routt Counties, Colorado

This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data release provides a digital geospatial database for the Geologic map of Precambrian rocks of the Sierra Madre, Carbon County, Wyoming, and Jackson and Routt Counties, Colorado (Houston and Graff, 1994). Attribute tables and geospatial features (points, lines and polygons) conform to the Geologic Map Schema (USGS NCGMP, 2020) and represent the...

DNA sequences used to analyze evolutionary rates of transient receptor potential (Trp) genes in tetrapods DNA sequences used to analyze evolutionary rates of transient receptor potential (Trp) genes in tetrapods

The dataset consists of two file types. The first type consists of sets of orthologous gene sequences of the transient receptor potential (Trp) superfamily of genes in FASTA format. The sequence data were obtained from the Gene database of the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI, www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/gene), aligned at the codon level, and trimmed to a defined region...

Estimated Annual Recharge to the Edwards Aquifer in the San Antonio Area, by Stream Basin or Ungaged Area, 1934–2024 Estimated Annual Recharge to the Edwards Aquifer in the San Antonio Area, by Stream Basin or Ungaged Area, 1934–2024

The Edwards aquifer in south-central Texas is one of the most permeable and productive aquifers in the United States and is the major source of public water supply for Bexar, Comal, Hays, Medina, and Uvalde Counties. The Edwards aquifer also supplies large quantities of water for use in agriculture, business, and industry in the region. The major artesian springs of the Edwards aquifer...

Seagrass map, Ship Island, Mississippi, 2021 (ver. 1.1, September 2025) Seagrass map, Ship Island, Mississippi, 2021 (ver. 1.1, September 2025)

This product depicts the spatial coverage of seagrass beds from 0.5-m color-infrared orthoimagery for Ship Island, Mississippi from early fall of 2021. Specifically, the map includes presence and absence of seagrass beds within a potential seagrass extent that was based on topobathymetric data. A minimum mapping unit of 4 square meters was used for this mapping effort. First release: May...
