Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Breeding Shorebird Surveys on the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta, Alaska, 2015-2016 Breeding Shorebird Surveys on the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta, Alaska, 2015-2016
We conducted ground-based surveys at 589 randomly selected 16-ha plots on the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta, Alaska during 2015-2016. The plots were selected using a stratified random sampling plan in an area of 35,769 square km divided into 8 physiographic strata. The population totals from the stratified random design estimators were adjusted using detection ratios derived with a double...
Telemetry based determination of first-year survival for lake sturgeon reintroduced to the Maumee River Telemetry based determination of first-year survival for lake sturgeon reintroduced to the Maumee River
Lake sturgeon (Acipenser fulvescens) have experienced large population declines due to overfishing, habitat degradation, and pollution. Due to these factors, lake sturgeon were extirpated in the Maumee River watershed (Ohio, USA). In 2018, a 20-year reintroduction program began that aims to establish a self-sustaining population in the Maumee River. To understand the potential success of...
Data for assessment of mineral commodity supply risk 2018 Data for assessment of mineral commodity supply risk 2018
Data for Figure 2 of U.S. Geological Survey Open-File Report 2021-1045 titled "Methodology and Technical Input for the 2021 Review and Revision of the U.S. Critical Minerals List." The data include the disruption potential, economic vulnerability, trade exposure, and overall supply risk for various mineral commodities in 2018. For some commodities, indicator scores are rounded to avoid
Visible and Near Infrared (VNIR) and Short Wavelength Infrared (SWIR) Spectra of Select Altered Mafic and Ultramafic Rock Samples from the Josephine Peridotite in CA and OR, the Yukon-Tanana region in Alaska, and from the Southern Appalachians in VA, NC, Visible and Near Infrared (VNIR) and Short Wavelength Infrared (SWIR) Spectra of Select Altered Mafic and Ultramafic Rock Samples from the Josephine Peridotite in CA and OR, the Yukon-Tanana region in Alaska, and from the Southern Appalachians in VA, NC,
These data are laboratory reflectance measurements conducted on a suite of altered mafic and ultramafic rocks. Visible-Near InfraRed (VNIR) and Short-Wave InfraRed (SWIR) reflectance measurements were made (~0.4 – 2.5 microns) using an artificial light source connected to an Analytical Spectral Devices (ASD) spectrometer. Spectra from a total of 91 samples were measured and analyzed...
Digital elevation models, orthomosaics, and GIS shapefiles of the 2020–2021 summit eruption at Kīlauea volcano, Island of Hawaiʻi Digital elevation models, orthomosaics, and GIS shapefiles of the 2020–2021 summit eruption at Kīlauea volcano, Island of Hawaiʻi
During the 2020–2021 summit eruption of Kīlauea volcano, Island of Hawaiʻi, staff at the U.S. Geological Survey Hawaiian Volcano Observatory (HVO) conducted 17 helicopter overflights of the eruption area between the dates of 21 December 2020 and 8 June 2021. Images captured during these flights were processed using the structure-from-motion (SfM) photogrammetry technique to produce...
Island of Hawaii ROD tree inoculation study, 2019-2022 Island of Hawaii ROD tree inoculation study, 2019-2022
This data release includes metadata and tabular data that documents the response of ohia (Metrosideros polymorpha) and ambrosia beetles (Curculionidae, Xyleborini) following the intentional inoculation of healthy ohia to Ceratocystis lukuohia, one of two fungal pathogens that causes Rapid Ohia Death (ROD). Ohia were inoculated with the ROD pathogen at three sites differing in elevation...
