The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Selenium in water, sediment, periphyton, benthic invertebrate and fish tissues from the Kootenai River, Idaho and Montana Selenium in water, sediment, periphyton, benthic invertebrate and fish tissues from the Kootenai River, Idaho and Montana

This dataset includes analyses of selenium (Se) in water, sediment, periphyton, and benthic invertebrate and fish tissues from the Kootenai River in Idaho and Montana. The samples were collected as part of a study intended to evaluate selenium distribution and bioaccumulation in the aquatic food webs of the Kootenai River. This dataset includes complete food web sample results from our...

Island of Hawaii forest bird malaria infection data 2001-2005 Island of Hawaii forest bird malaria infection data 2001-2005

This data publication contains information collected as part of a field, laboratory, and modeling effort aimed at uncovering ecological drivers of avian malaria transmission and impacts on Hawaiian honeycreepers across an altitudinal gradient on the eastern flank of Mauna Loa and Kilauea volcanoes. Forest bird banding data and blood samples for diagnosis of Plasmodium relictum, the agent

This USGS data release consists of five data sets and accompanying metadata for an experimental mark-release-recapture (MMR) study of adult Culex quinquefasciatus conducted in a montane rainforest in Upper Waiākea Forest Reserve on the Island of Hawai'i from October-December 2020 and laboratory survivorship studies and analysis from 2021- 2024. Culex quinquefasciatus is the vector of the...

Data for groundwater age estimates for the Mississippi River Valley alluvial aquifer based on tracer data collected during 2018–20 Data for groundwater age estimates for the Mississippi River Valley alluvial aquifer based on tracer data collected during 2018–20

This data release contains tracer data and estimated age distributions of groundwater samples collected as part of a water availability study for the Mississippi alluvial plain (MAP). The MAP is the floodplain of the lower Mississippi River and its main tributaries and distributaries. The soils, climate, and irrigation water resources of the MAP have made it a highly productive...

SUTRA Models Used to Evaluate Reservoir Thermal Energy Storage Performance in the United States SUTRA Models Used to Evaluate Reservoir Thermal Energy Storage Performance in the United States

This data release documents eight 30-year SUTRA simulations summarized in Pepin and others (2025) and provides output from one short (1-year) simulation to provide verification that the model code runs properly. The most recent, but not-yet published, version of SUTRA (version 4.0) was used to evaluate reservoir thermal energy storage performance by simulating radially symmetric...

Rock Properties Data for the Pre-Cretaceous Formations in the Southwest Wyoming Province Area Rock Properties Data for the Pre-Cretaceous Formations in the Southwest Wyoming Province Area

In 2024, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) compiled rock properties data from the USGS Core Research Center's (CRC) database for the Southwestern Wyoming Province and adjoining areas to better characterize the potential hydrocarbon sources and reservoirs in the area. Data from 53 wells were collected from data analysis results located in the CRC database. These data are derived...
