Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Water quality and toxicity data to assess the potential effect of nitrogen on juvenile freshwater mussels (Bivalvia: Unionidae) in the Buffalo National River, Arkansas from September 16 2019 to November 20, 2020 Water quality and toxicity data to assess the potential effect of nitrogen on juvenile freshwater mussels (Bivalvia: Unionidae) in the Buffalo National River, Arkansas from September 16 2019 to November 20, 2020

The Buffalo National River in Arkansas was established as the first national river in 1972 and later designated as an Extraordinary Resource Water with a Wild and Scenic section in the upper portion. The Buffalo National River's water quality database indicates nitrogen compounds have increased since the 1980s. This study aimed to investigate the potential threat of elevated nutrients...

Maps showing landslide structures at three locations on the active part of the Slumgullion landslide, Hinsdale County, Colorado in 2002, 2013, and 2023 Maps showing landslide structures at three locations on the active part of the Slumgullion landslide, Hinsdale County, Colorado in 2002, 2013, and 2023

The maps in this data release show active landslide structures in three areas along the north flank of the Slumgullion landslide. After the entire active part of the landslide was mapped in 1992 and 1993 (Fleming and others, 1999), we remapped these three smaller areas at roughly decadal intervals. Our goal was to learn what structures might persist and how they might change as...

Geochemistry of mafic and ultramafic rocks in the Eastern Blue Ridge of Virginia and North Carolina (ver. 2.0, September 2025) Geochemistry of mafic and ultramafic rocks in the Eastern Blue Ridge of Virginia and North Carolina (ver. 2.0, September 2025)

This data release includes whole rock (WR) geochemical data for 92 samples. Whole rock geochemistry data were analyzed at Actlabs in Ancaster, Ontario, Canada. Rock samples were collected from 2020 to 2024 by Naomi Becker, Arthur Merschat, Mark Carter, and Kadie Steup. The whole rock geochemistry data characterize the composition of mafic and ultramafic (MUM) rocks in the Eastern Blue...

Water budget results for a water availability assessment across the conterminous United States Water budget results for a water availability assessment across the conterminous United States

This data release contains results from a simple monthly water budget that includes water supply and consumptive use for thermoelectric, irrigation, and public supply for 12-digit Hydrologic Unit Codes (HUC12) across the conterminous United States for water years 2010-2020. These results were produced using an analysis pipeline that ingests water supply, consumptive use, and routing...

This data release contains raster geospatial data for characterizing drainage basins in the Nevada StreamStats study area. Included are precipitation, temperature, elevation, slope, and land cover data. There are 70 full or partial 8-digit hydrologic units (HU8) represented in the Nevada StreamStats study area: 15010005 (partial), 15010006 (partial), 15010008, 15010009, 15010010...

Foundational geospatial data sets for delineating drainage areas for Nevada StreamStats Foundational geospatial data sets for delineating drainage areas for Nevada StreamStats

This data release contains vector and raster geospatial data for delineating drainage basins in the Nevada StreamStats study area. Included are vector streamline, waterbody, and inner wall data used to hydrologically condition the digital elevation model. The hydrologically-conditioned digital elevation model, flow direction, flow accumulation, and stream delineation raster data are also...
