Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Hyperspectral image transects and field measurements of reflectance, visible dye concentration, and flow velocity acquired during a tracer experiment on the Missouri River near Lexington, MO, on May 11, 2024 Hyperspectral image transects and field measurements of reflectance, visible dye concentration, and flow velocity acquired during a tracer experiment on the Missouri River near Lexington, MO, on May 11, 2024

This data release includes several types of remotely sensed data and field measurements acquired during a tracer experiment performed on the Missouri River near Lexington, Missouri, on May 11, 2024. One of the primary goals of this study was to assess the feasibility of inferring concentrations of a visible dye (Rhodamine WT) in a large, highly turbid natural river channel using data...

Missouri Stream Conservation and Connectivity Prioritization Tool: Improving and Expanding Existing Conservation Networks Missouri Stream Conservation and Connectivity Prioritization Tool: Improving and Expanding Existing Conservation Networks

The Missouri Stream Conservation and Connectivity Prioritization Tool contains data tabulating costs to traverse between 10,357 origin and 50,135 destination stream reaches throughout the Central Plains and Ozarks aquatic subregions in Missouri. Below are links to data associated with the more northern drainages and also the southern drainages. These data are intended to be used in the...

Results of generalized least-squares (GLS) regression for 136 USGS streamgages in urban areas in Tennessee and parts of Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, and South Carolina Results of generalized least-squares (GLS) regression for 136 USGS streamgages in urban areas in Tennessee and parts of Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, and South Carolina

This dataset contains results of generalized least-squares (GLS) regression for 136 streamflow gaging stations (streamgages) operated by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) on urban streams in Tennessee and parts of Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, and South Carolina. GLS regression was used to relate drainage area, percentages of the drainage basins of the streamgages in...

University of Iowa/ NASA GIFT Expedition to Askja, Iceland MSc Data collection: 2019, Dyngjusandur Sandsheet In Situ and Photogrammetric Ventifact Measurements University of Iowa/ NASA GIFT Expedition to Askja, Iceland MSc Data collection: 2019, Dyngjusandur Sandsheet In Situ and Photogrammetric Ventifact Measurements

We use the Dyngjusandur sandsheet, Iceland as a testbed to quantify the type of data necessary to accurately represent ventifact orientations and extract paleowind information through a statistical evaluation of the differences between photogrammetric based and in situ geological analysis. Forty representative ventifacts were selected for in situ measurement, 20 of which were imaged for

Grand Calumet River Area of Concern Metabarcoding Data Grand Calumet River Area of Concern Metabarcoding Data

The Grand Calumet River flows through northwestern Indiana and was designated an EPA Area of Concern (AOC) in 1987. There are multiple legacy pollutants in the river including but not limited to heavy metals and PCBs. To investigate potential causes and patterns of eutrophication in the river, water samples were collected for 16S rRNA microbial and eukaryotic 18S rRNA amplicon sequencing...

Geochemical, grain size, lithological, diatom, bathymetric, and age model data for Wildcat Lake, Point Reyes National Seashore 2021 Geochemical, grain size, lithological, diatom, bathymetric, and age model data for Wildcat Lake, Point Reyes National Seashore 2021

These data are the geochemical (from X-ray fluorescence spectrometry), grain size, lithological (loss on ignition), diatom assemblages (taxa counts), bathymetric, and radioactive isotopes (210-Pb, 137Cs) from sediments from Wildcat Lake, Point Reyes National Seashore, California, USA starting in 2021. Taken together, they provide evidence for extreme precipitation events linked to...
