Island of Hawai'i, Host preferences of Acalolepta aesthetica 2020-2023 Island of Hawai'i, Host preferences of Acalolepta aesthetica 2020-2023
Acalolepta aesthetica (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) is a beetle species whose larvae develop within branches and stems of host plants and can harm or kill host trees. Since this species was detected on the Island of Hawai'i in 2009, it has been documented to have a wide host breadth but its host preferences and its potential to use native plant species as hosts have not been formally...
Survival of early life stages of Lampsilis siliquoidea exposed to Syngenta Crop Protection product SYN549522B Survival of early life stages of Lampsilis siliquoidea exposed to Syngenta Crop Protection product SYN549522B
This data set contains toxicity data from 24- and 96-hour water bioassays to assess the effects of a Syngenta Crop Protection product on early life stages of a freshwater mussel. We used ASTM International methods to conduct tests with juveniles and glochidia of the freshwater mussel Lampsilis siliquoidea. Analytical chemistry and water quality analysis results are included as well.
SUTRA hydrogeologic models of Geologic Thermal Energy Storage (GeoTES) to support techno-economic analyses in select U.S. cities SUTRA hydrogeologic models of Geologic Thermal Energy Storage (GeoTES) to support techno-economic analyses in select U.S. cities
This data release documents sixteen 5-year simulations using the USGS SUTRA groundwater flow modeling software and includes the full output from one 5-year simulation for verification that the model code runs properly. The most recent version of SUTRA (version 4.0) was used to evaluate aquifer (ATES) and reservoir (RTES) thermal energy storage performance to support economic analyses by...
Concentration of PFOS (perfluorooctanesulfonic acid) in water and freshwater diatoms (Mayamaea atomus) in a bioaccumulation study conducted at U.S. Geological Survey, Columbia Environmental Research Center in July 2021 Concentration of PFOS (perfluorooctanesulfonic acid) in water and freshwater diatoms (Mayamaea atomus) in a bioaccumulation study conducted at U.S. Geological Survey, Columbia Environmental Research Center in July 2021
Two laboratory experiments were conducted to understand PFOS (perfluorooctanesulfonic acid) bioaccumulation in freshwater benthic diatoms (Mayamaea atomus). The first experiment tested bioconcentration at multiple PFOS concentrations (0, 0.01, 0.1, 1, 10, 100 micrograms per liter) after 7 days of exposure. The second explored uptake and depuration of 0.1 micrograms per liter PFOS at...
Water Quality Vertical Profile Data to Support Embayment Monitoring in Long Island Sound, Saugatuck and Sasco-Southport Embayments, Connecticut, 2022-2024 Water Quality Vertical Profile Data to Support Embayment Monitoring in Long Island Sound, Saugatuck and Sasco-Southport Embayments, Connecticut, 2022-2024
This data release includes vertical water-quality profile data collected from April 2022 to April 2024 at three locations in the Saugatuck River Embayment near Saugatuck, Connecticut, and two locations in the Mill River and one at the mouth of Sasco Brook near Southport Harbor, Connecticut, for the Sasco-Southport Embayment that discharge to Long Island Sound. These data were collected...
Rare Earth, Trace Metal, Phosphorus, and Base Cation Concentrations During Three High-Flow Events in a Headwater Stream in Vermont, USA Rare Earth, Trace Metal, Phosphorus, and Base Cation Concentrations During Three High-Flow Events in a Headwater Stream in Vermont, USA
The USGS team measured base cations, aluminum (Al), iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), rare earth elements (REEs), dissolved organic carbon (DOC), major anions, and phosphorus (P) in eight streamwater grab (manual) samples during each of three high-flow events (E-1, E-2, E-3) at the forested headwater catchment W-9, Sleepers River, Vermont, USA. E-1 was a large fall rainstorm, E-2 was a multi...
