Sytyropha on white background. S. krigei to be specific from Kruger National Park in South Africa. This specimen was identified and photographed by Silas Bossert a bee researcher at the Smithsonian Natural History Museum. They use similar systems to what we use, but prefer gray to white backgrounds, they are equally detailed.

Tachinid Fly from the Dominican Republic floating in hand sanitizer filled quartz cuvette, in which a thin film of blue food coloring was added to a black piece of plastic and inserted at the bottom of the cuvette and allowed to migrate upwards.

Tachytes species, Anne Arundel County, Maryland

I am 80% sure this is a just hatched spring peeper tadpole. This is taken at 10x so it is very very tiny, the peepers are still calling and little else has started to breed or would be this small.

One of two beetles pictured from a collection of UV trap material from Little St. Simons Island on Coastal Georgia this past month. Potentially the start of a new monitoring program. I pulled these two out to take pictures simply because they were cool looking. Doug Yanega identified them as Tenebrionid beetles.
