From 2014 to July 17, 2026, the CASCs supported a network of Tribal Community Resilience Liaisons (later renamed Technical Assistance Providers), through a program funded largely by the BIA Branch of Tribal Community Resilience (TCR). The Alaska, Midwest, North Central, Northeast, Northwest, South Central, Southeast, and Southwest CASCs each hosted one or more Liaisons. The Liaisons were generally employed by Tribal organizations, funded by the BIA TCR, and worked directly with their regional CASC to connect federally recognized Tribes and Alaska Native Villages to resources for adaptation efforts.
Liaisons served as extension agents, facilitating research, linking Tribal needs to available resources, and coordinating trainings, workshops, forums, and exchanges. During this more than decade-long collaboration, the Tribal Community Resilience Liaisons worked with over 100 Tribal Nations on adaptation plans and vulnerability assessments and supported nearly 200 Tribal climate camps, summits, trainings, workshops, retreats, and presentations.
Current Pathways for Tribal Resilience Support
Although the partnership between the BIA TCR and CASCs is no longer active, supporting Tribal and Indigenous adaptation efforts remains a priority for the CASC network.
