Research microbiologist Christina Kellogg (USGS St. Petersburg Coastal and Marine Science Center) was recognized as a prominent international scientist by the Australian Academy of Science and awarded the 2018 Rudi Lemberg Travelling Fellowship.
This article is part of the August-October 2017 issue of the Sound Waves newsletter.
The Fellowship fosters the international exchange of scientific ideas and supports lectures for the general public. As part of her Fellowship, Kellogg plans to compare U.S. deep-sea coral samples with those found on the Great Barrier Reef to better understand bacterial organisms on coral reefs. Kellogg will work with coral reef experts at James Cook University, the Australian Institute of Marine Science, and the ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies and will present lectures in Townsville, Brisbane, and Sydney.
