Data
Staff of USGS Science Centers in Region 7: Upper Colorado Basin collect a wide variety of natural resource data types including spatial, geologic, hydrologic, and biologic. Data included in USGS-series publications that are not publicly available in USGS databases are published in Data Releases. Short descriptions and links to Data Releases produced by Region 7 Science Centers are shown below.

Data supporting the 2019 geomorphic survey of North Fork Eagle Creek, New Mexico Data supporting the 2019 geomorphic survey of North Fork Eagle Creek, New Mexico
This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data release contains results from the 2019 geomorphic survey of North Fork Eagle Creek, New Mexico. The 2019 geomorphic survey was conducted by the USGS, in cooperation with the Village of Ruidoso, New Mexico, and is the third in a planned series of five annual geomorphic surveys of the stream reach located between the North Fork Eagle Creek near Alto...
Whole rock major, minor, and trace element geochemistry of the upper part of the Mount Emmons-Redwell porphyry molybdenum (Climax-type) deposit, Redwell Basin, Crested Butte, Colorado Whole rock major, minor, and trace element geochemistry of the upper part of the Mount Emmons-Redwell porphyry molybdenum (Climax-type) deposit, Redwell Basin, Crested Butte, Colorado
This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data release provides whole rock major, minor, and trace element geochemical data from the fluorine-rich Mount Emmons-Redwell porphyry molybdenum (Climax-type) deposit (Mt. Emmons-Redwell deposit), located approximately 5.6 km (3.5 mi) northwest of Crested Butte, Colorado. The Mt. Emmons-Redwell deposit partly underlies Redwell Basin on the northwest...
Airborne magnetic survey over northeast North Dakota, 2000-2001 Airborne magnetic survey over northeast North Dakota, 2000-2001
This data release is a re-release of an airborne geophysical survey carried out for the United States Geological Survey (USGS) by Spectra Exploration Geoscience Corp., from November 2000 to February 2001. The purpose of this survey was to acquire high-resolution, high-sensitivity aeromagnetic data over an area in northeast and north-central North Dakota and assess the area for anomalies...
U-Pb zircon data for igneous units related to mineralization in the eastern Yukon-Tanana upland, eastern Alaska U-Pb zircon data for igneous units related to mineralization in the eastern Yukon-Tanana upland, eastern Alaska
From 2017-2019, framework metallogenic studies were completed in the eastern Yukon-Tanana upland in eastern Alaska. Numerous previously undated plutons known or suspected to contain components of porphyry, epithermal, and intrusion-related gold systems and associated deposit types were sampled for age and zircon trace element determinations between the Black Mountain area and the Yukon...
Digital subsurface data from previously published maps of the base and thickness of post-Eocene continental deposits in the Sacramento Valley, California Digital subsurface data from previously published maps of the base and thickness of post-Eocene continental deposits in the Sacramento Valley, California
Post-Eocene (predominantly Pliocene) continental sedimentary rocks of the Sacramento Valley, CA are up to 1,200 m thick beneath the valley. These rocks contain most of the fresh ground water in the valley, forming a key component of the total water budget for the valley. A 1974 study by the U.S. Geological Survey was an early attempt to develop detailed knowledge of the subsurface...
Digital subsurface data from previously published contour map of the top of the Wilcox Group, northern Gulf of Mexico coastal region Digital subsurface data from previously published contour map of the top of the Wilcox Group, northern Gulf of Mexico coastal region
The lower Paleogene Wilcox Group crops out around the northern edge of the Gulf of Mexico Basin and is a major coal-bearing unit and a primary oil and gas producer in the lower Paleogene section of the Gulf Coast region. The outcrop distribution of the Wilcox Group and other coal-bearing strata of the Gulf Coast region was compiled as part of a U.S. Geological Survey National Coal...
Spatial mark-recapture and chew card rat data on Guam and Rota, 2018-2019 Spatial mark-recapture and chew card rat data on Guam and Rota, 2018-2019
We provide four datasets: Mark recapture and trapping effort, Grid layout, Chew cards, and Trail camera validation. Mark recapture and trapping effort has one row for every live-trap night, including the unique grid identification code, date of trap check, cumulative rain amount from the 24-hr period before the trap check, unique trap identification, trap status, unique individual rat
Airborne magnetic and radiometric survey, Columbia, South Carolina and surrounds, 2020 Airborne magnetic and radiometric survey, Columbia, South Carolina and surrounds, 2020
This data release provides digital flight line data for a high-resolution airborne magnetic and radiometric survey over Columbia, South Carolina, and the surrounding region. The airborne data collection was funded by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Earth Mapping Resource Initiative (Earth MRI) with goals of better understanding placer deposits containing critical mineral resources...
Handling times: tagging vs photos, Boreal toads in WY/CO 2020 Handling times: tagging vs photos, Boreal toads in WY/CO 2020
Individual identification is required for investigations that examine population-level changes (e.g., decreased survival, increased disease prevalence) and the mechanisms associated with these changes in wild populations. Such identification generally requires the application of a unique mark, or the documentation of characteristics unique to each individual animal. Marking strategies...
Multi-objective Modeling as a Decision-support Tool for Feral Horse Management Multi-objective Modeling as a Decision-support Tool for Feral Horse Management
Decisions related to controversial problems in natural resource management receive the greatest support when they account for multiple objectives of stakeholders in a structured and transparent fashion. In the United States, management of feral horses (Equus caballus) is a controversial multi-objective problem because disparate stakeholder groups have varying objectives and opinions...
Geochemical Data Release for Idaho Primitive Area, including the contiguous Clear Creek-Upper Big Deer Creek Area, the Salmon River Breaks Primitive Area, the Sawtooth Primitive Area, and adjacent areas, central Idaho (ver. 1.2, June 2022) Geochemical Data Release for Idaho Primitive Area, including the contiguous Clear Creek-Upper Big Deer Creek Area, the Salmon River Breaks Primitive Area, the Sawtooth Primitive Area, and adjacent areas, central Idaho (ver. 1.2, June 2022)
This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data release (ver. 1.2, April 2022) contains a set of previously unpublished geochemical data from project studies of primitive areas in central Idaho, including the Clear Creek-Upper Big Deer Creek Area, the Salmon River Breaks and Sawtooth Primitive Areas, and the Gospel-Hump Wilderness Area. The purpose of the USGS Idaho Primitive Area studies...
Fault data collected between 1996 and 2019 from the Buffalo River watershed area, northern Arkansas Fault data collected between 1996 and 2019 from the Buffalo River watershed area, northern Arkansas
Information on the locations and characteristics of faults were collected while conducting fieldwork between 1996 and 2019 in support of geologic mapping in the Buffalo River watershed area of northern Arkansas. A total of 1274 entries on faults were recorded at 452 sites. The observations associated with faults include seven categories of increasing completeness of information.
